Horned Rattlesnake

Great shot, unfortunately, it's not a rattlesnake. This is Cerastes cerastes - the Horned viper, Horned adder, or Desert horned viper. They are reminiscent of the sidewinder - Crotalus cerastes ssp. (a species rattlesnake form the SW United States who's latin name is based off of this snake). The sidewinder, however, doesn't have actual "horns" like C. cerastes but instead have less extreme modified scales above the eyes. They major differences between the two are that the Sidewinder is a pit viper, while the horned viper isn't, and the Sidewinder exists in the SW United States and Northern Mexico, while the Horned viper is found throughout Northern Africa up into the Middle East.
